The research of INP Greifswald has led to new developments including atmospheric pressure plasma sources for the medical research like "kINPen Med" and a dielectric barrier discharge for treatment of liquids. These plasma sources were developed in collaboration with medical scientists, physicists and engineers. The successful cooperation and mutual understanding between the different disciplines made it possible to understand and to use the full potential of the plasma-medical applications.
Since it was founded, INP has spun off a total of 4 enterprises:
Founded in 2005 as technology transfer centre, neoplas GmbH specializes in the technology and process development relating to plasma. It supports results of scientific research obtained on the basis of this cross-sectional technology with applications for instance in the environmental technology, medicine and surface treatment in their exploitation and development.
Business areas of neoplas control GmbH are high-precision and fast measuring systems for the plasma diagnostics, plasma process control and trace gas analysis including the monitoring and control of plasma coating processes directly on the substrate.
The neoplas tools GmbH exists since 2009 as manufacturer of plasma sources for technological applications. Since the middle of 2012 it is focusing on medical devices for the plasma medicine.
Based on the needs of physicians, caregivers, and patients the coldplasmatech team, together with experts from Europe's leading institution for plasma technology (INP) is developing a medical product that can revolutionize the treatment of wounds that are difficult to heal. The complex cold plasma technology will be provisioned in the future as an uncomplicated, safe and effective wound dressing for the therapy of chronic wounds.
