1st International Workshop on Infrared Plasma Spectroscopy

Organized by the INP Greifswald and the IfP, University of Greifswald
Greifswald, Germany, June 14 – 16 2006

Dear Colleagues,
This is the first announcement of the 1st International Workshop on Infrared Plasma Spectroscopy (IPS). The Workshop is organized by the INP Greifswald in cooperation with the Institute of Physics (IfP), University of Greifswald and will take place from Wednesday 14th to Friday 16th June, 2006, in the INP in the old university town of Greifswald, Germany.

Scientific Program
The 1st International Workshop on Infrared Plasma Spectroscopy is the first conference which brings together physicists from different places worldwide who are applying spectroscopic methods in the infrared spectral region for investigating gas discharges. This is an important and fruitful opportunity to meet and discuss with the leading scientists of this field. The scientific program covers all modern aspects of Infrared Plasma Spectroscopy connecting fundamental research with industrial applications. The main topics of the Workshop include all kinds of spectroscopic methods in the infrared region, like tuneable diode laser absorption spectroscopy, and their various applications for diagnostics of all kind of gas discharges.
With this announcement, we would like to invite you to attend this Workshop and to ask you to submit a presentation of your current research in the field of Infrared Plasma Spectroscopy. Due to the limited facilities of the Workshop site the number of participants will be limited to ca. 40…50, so please register early.

Venue
The workshop will be held in the INP Greifswald, which is midway between the city centre of Greifswald with its historic hanseatic buildings and the old fishing village of Wieck and the famous monasteric ruins in Eldena. Although June is not the main summer holiday season, the weather is already very nice at this time of the year. The event will start on Wednesday evening with a welcome reception and will end with a sailing tour on Friday afternoon giving ample opportunities to communicate with the other participants.
Further details on deadlines, conference schedule, registration fee and accommodation can be found in the 2nd announcement, which you will receive via E-mail at the end of January or soon on the workshops web site:
    http://www.inp-greifswald.de/ips2006.nsf
Pre-Registration

    ips2006@inp-greifswald.de
Please note
The second announcement will only be sent to those who have pre-registered by e-mail.

Contributions
Participants who want to contribute are requested to send an abstract of not more than 300 words to the LOC following the 2nd announcement. The International Scientific Committee will invite several participants to give oral presentations. The proceedings of the workshop will be published on CD. The proceedings will be distributed to all registered participants at the start of the Workshop. For publishing an article in the proceedings it is necessary that at least one of the authors is registered. Information on deadlines, the abstract format and more detail on the submission will be given in the Second Announcement.

Industrial Exhibition
It is planned to arrange an industrial exhibition at the workshop

Travel Information
The conference site can easily be reached by train or car from the international airports of Berlin, Rostock and Hamburg. Details will be given on the web page and in the Second Announcement.

We are looking forward to seeing you in Greifswald,
Sincerely yours,
