Dear colleague

We would like to invite you to participate in the 3rd International Workshop on Microplasmas from Tuesday, May 9 to Thursday, May 11 2006, which will take place in the old university town of Greifswald. The workshop will start with a reception dinner on May 8.

General information

The subjects of this workshop are the inspiring scientific and arising technological opportunities of microplasmas and microdischarges. We will discuss the latest results of research and applications of plasmas with linear dimensions in the range from mm to µm and operating pressures up to and exceeding atmospheric pressure. The workshop is organized by the INP (Institute of Low Temperature Plasma Physics e.V.) in cooperation with the IfP (Institute of Physics) of the Ernst-Moritz-Arndt-University Greifswald.

Scientific program

The scientific program covers all modern aspects of microplasmas connecting fundamental research with applications. The preliminary topics of the workshop are:

Events and conference excursions

For participants and accompanying persons a welcome buffet and a conference dinner will be offered. On Wednesday an excursion is planned. This requires an extra charge for accompanying persons.

Call for papers

Participants who want to present a lecture or a poster are requested to send an abstract of not more than 300 words to the LOC. The accepted abstracts will be published in a booklet and will be handed out at the beginning of the workshop. The International Scientific Committee (ISC) will propose speakers to give general lectures. Invited speakers are requested to submit an article until March 1, 2006. A special issue is planned. The proceedings of the workshop will be published. The LOC will send the proceedings to all registered participants immediately after publishing. For publishing an article in the proceedings it is necessary that at least one of the authors is registered. Information on the format will be given in the Second Announcement.

The registration fee includes participation in the workshop, one copy of the book of abstracts and of the proceedings, welcome reception, conference dinner, excursion, all workshop breaks and two buffet lunches. Accommodation is not included. The room-reservation procedure will be given in the Second Announcement.

Registration is considered after payment. All interested colleagues are encouraged to use the online pre-registration.

Travel information

The conference site can easily be reached by train or car from the international airports of Berlin, Rostock and Hamburg. Details will be given on the web page and in the Second Announcement.
