Spin-offs

The re­se­arch of INP has led to new de­ve­lop­ments in­clu­ding at­mo­s­phe­ric pres­su­re plas­ma sour­ces for the me­di­cal re­se­arch li­ke "kIN­Pen Med" and a dielectric bar­ri­er di­sch­ar­ge for tre­at­ment of li­quids. The­se plas­ma sour­ces we­re de­ve­l­o­ped in col­la­bo­ra­ti­on with me­di­cal sci­en­tists, phy­si­cists and en­gi­neers. The suc­cess­ful co­ope­ra­ti­on and mu­tu­al un­der­stan­ding bet­ween the dif­fe­rent di­sci­pli­nes ma­de it pos­si­ble to un­der­stand and to use the full po­ten­ti­al of the plas­ma-me­di­cal ap­p­li­ca­ti­ons. Since it was founded, INP has spun off a total of 5 enterprises:

neoplas GmbH is a service provider for technology transfer, technology development and technology management. Founded in 2005 as a technology transfer center, it specializes in the development and manufacture of plasma sources for industry, research and medicine. Applications are e.g. in veterinary wound healing and industrial surface treatment.

The neo­plas med GmbH exists sin­ce 2009 as ma­nu­fac­tu­rer of plas­ma sour­ces for tech­no­lo­gi­cal ap­p­li­ca­ti­ons. Sin­ce the midd­le of 2012 it is fo­cu­sing on me­di­cal de­vices for the plas­ma me­di­ci­ne.

Based on the needs of physicians, caregivers, and patients the coldplasmatech team, together with experts from Europe's leading institution for plasma technology (INP) is developing a medical product that can revolutionize the treatment of wounds that are difficult to heal. The complex cold plasma technology will be provisioned in the future as an uncomplicated, safe and effective wound dressing for the therapy of chronic wounds.

The Nebula Biocides is working on a new type of hand disinfectant that works against stubborn bacterial spores. The basis for this is the previous research work on plasma-liquid interaction at the INP.
