Buil­ding

The INP has been located at Felix-Hausdorff-Straße 2 since 1999. It is located in the centre of the scientific and medical campus of the University of Greifswald. The main building has a floor space of around 3,700 square metres. It is equipped with 133 office workstations and 41 laboratories. The extension building, which closed the gap between the INP and the Biotechnology Centre, was opened in 2010. It primarily houses laboratories and offices in the field of plasma medicine. There are 30 office workstations and 8 laboratories in this 540 square metre area. An additional 1,000 square metres of laboratory space and further offices are located in the Z4 Life Science Plasma Technology Centre, which has been connected to the Biotechnikum since 2023.

Staff

INP has about 170 em­ployees at pre­sent. The sci­en­ti­fic di­sci­pli­nes in­clu­de phy­sics, che­mis­try, phar­ma­cy and bio­lo­gy.

Bud­get

In 2025, the INP had a total budget of approximately €28.8 million. Of this, approximately €14.8 million is competitively acquired third-party funding from federal and state ministries, the German Research Foundation, the European Union and industry.

Scientific Publications

The research activities at INP are also reflected in a strong publication record. In 2025, INP researchers published a total of 122 scientific articles. Most of these appeared in peer-reviewed journals, with 88 publications. In addition, 21 articles were published in peer-reviewed conference proceedings, 11 in other journals, and 2 as book chapters. These publications contribute to the international visibility of research at INP.
