This project, which received over €2 million in funding for four years from the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania State Excellence Initiative in 2018, is exploring new avenues in skin cancer research. A total of eight partners from the federal state, including the University Medical Centres in Rostock and Greifswald and the INP, are working on new combination therapies based on two forms of skin cancer, spanning several scientific disciplines from ethics, chemistry and biology to medicine. Cold physical plasma was used and combined with various small molecules. In addition to scientific goals, more than 10 doctoral students in the natural sciences were trained in the joint project. The spokesperson for the consortium is Prof. Dr. Steffen Emmert from the Dermatology Clinic in Rostock.
