PLAS4GLAS: Plasma-based heating technology for the glass industry
Plas4Glas develops an energy-efficient, emission-free, and cost-effective plasma-based firing technology for glass production, thereby significantly reducing climate-relevant process emissions in the glass-producing raw materials industry. The project initially plans to test this innovative approach in the forming process, specifically in the production of micro glass beads. The project will develop and test an attractive alternative to conventional gas burners that can be used for electrification in high-temperature processes, is flexible to integrate, easily scalable, and requires minimal maintenance.
The project involves Kjellberg Finsterwalde Plasma und Maschinen GmbH, SWARCO Schönborn GmbH and the Leibniz Institute for Plasma Science and Technology (INP) as partners. Heinz-Glas Produktion & Co. KGaA is also participating as an associated partner. Funding is provided by the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR).
