WattAWaste

Eigenschaften von Vakuum-Schaltlichtbögen in Hochspannungsanwendungen

By leveraging advanced waste-to-energy conversion methods, WAW focuses on developing and testing practical solutions that integrate directly into regional and local energy grids. The project will demonstrate the feasibility of energy production from non-recyclable waste fractions through pilot-scale installations.

Partners from Poland, Lithuania, Denmark and Sweden work in this project funded by the Interreg programme South Baltic co-financed by the European Union and running from 2025 to 2028.

INP will develop plasma-based technologies for optimizing waste-to-energy conversion in the subproject Pilot Case 3. This pilot will focus on maximizing energy yield from non-recyclable waste while minimizing emissions and secondary waste generation. The interaction of specific waste input materials with plasmas is analyzed to preselect appropriate plasma sources. A plasma based gasification reactor is being set up for a pilot test. Based on this, scale-up scenarios for case-specific, efficient industrial applications will be derived.
